I'm doing what I do best and like most, among folks who work well together.
Life is good.
My qualifications arise from rich, varied experience gained in 42 years of employment and business, including a Structural Integration practice, an engineering career, and three startup companies.
Presently, I write marketing copy and provide comprehensive marketing services through a team of talented associates, leveraging my organizational and management background. We form a dynamic, innovative, and highly creative boutique agency that operates virtually, serving clients worldwide. I love writing, marketing, my colleagues, and my clients.
My engineering career spanned 23 years in product design and management. I produced, contributed to, or managed designs for computer mainframes, shipboard electronics, industrial pumps, and medical devices. I became a subject matter expert in Computer Aided Design and published numerous articles. I set up design operations in 4 engineering departments, plus a consultancy. This involved writing reams of technical documentation and business communications.
I learned the power of marketing and public relations in two formative experiences. My three year Structural Integration practice began with a single press release that brought a full page spread in a Sunday newspaper, followed by a rush of clients. Much later, my engineering consultancy was laid to waste by competition from India that destroyed my margins forever, once they established a marketing presence in the US.
I finally 'got it,' after many years of designing innovative, high quality products and providing stellar services, that the best product or service does not win.
The best marketing wins.
I veered into marketing and copy writing to recover in business and discovered my true calling, after having sought out as much writing activity as I could find in every endeavor since college. I constantly learned about, and experimented with, fiction, non-fiction and poetry, publishing here and there.
I achieved high honors in undergraduate school, completing an English and Psychology double major at SUNY/AB in 1974, with a concentration in Creative Writing. I served in the Army (in Korea) during the Vietnam era. I was decorated for meritorious service mainly due to writing accomplishments.
It took me many years to get clear on what I'm really meant to do. I'm at a loss to explain why my path was so crooked. Fortunately, it was also fascinating. And I got a lot of practice writing along the way.
Professionally, that's me.
Please call on me if you'd like my help with marketing, writing, or business strategy.
